Morello and Outernational Release “Deportees” Video

Last month, Tom Morello and Outernational recorded a cover of the Woodie Guthrie song, “Deportees” as a protest against Arizona’s controversial anti-immigrant law SB 1070.

Now, the Latino activist group Cuéntame has produced a powerful video to go with the song. They are urging all supporters to spread the video far and wide, to help show the struggle that immigrants face.

  1. Excellent. Excellent. I just love you, Tom Morello and your knowing how to deliver the message to the people in order to pass on the empowerment it takes to stay afloat in today’s society. You have the tools and know how to heighten awareness with a very educated perspective that I truly respect. I spread the word to those who I converse with and always associate the information with the AOJ website. Besides, those of us here in Denver, CO have our very strong feelings about the AZ immigration/racial profiling issues. There are even boycotts with travel to AZ going on with CO. I look forward to more projects with Cuentame and yourself. I always look forward to emails from AOJ and share them with others. Thank you, muchisimas gracias for implementing the tools of your heart, mind, and soul.

Tom, very well done! Iam so very proud to have people like you out there. Keep fighting the good fight! Iam doing all I can to try and get people more active but iam 1 man and in the midwest. It seems as if people are to lazy and don’t wanna be active on important issuse’s such as the discrimination law in Az. Please come out more with as much as possible you need to make more appearences on programs heck anything! So people can hear you… and maybe this can get em motivated.. but once again thank you Tom for all you do for humanity!

And so the USA is supposed to just let everyone in? Grow up. Boycotting AZ for trying to protect the borders is only going to hurt the people. It is just such a naive position to want “no borders” Sorry folks but in the grown up world you need to control things like this. We have diseases now that we had at one time irradicated, they are coming in with the undocumented workers. Are we spposed to feel sorry for tuberculosis and offer it a better life too? The people who come over here are wonderful hard working people but you just can’t take on everyone in an uncontrolled way. Sorry, it just doesn’t work.
If you are going to be upset about something why not be upset about an administration that refuses to protect it’s citizens by enforcing it’s own laws. The Repugnicans used the cheap labor and now the Democrats want the votes. Nobody realy cares about the immigrants and it’s for damned sure they don’t care about the citizens.
It’s lovely to want to share with all people but life isn’t that simple.

Maybe they should apply the effort they put towards keeping immigrants out into helping them. If we just give them a chance, they will work harder than most well payed Americans and do it the right way. Most are not looking for a free ride, just a decent life. Remember, they were here first.
